WHEELS FOR HUB GEAR BIKES

We use a special rim (Rigida Andra) which is recommended by the likes of Rolhoff where the spoke holes are directionally drilled i.e. the holes are drilled so that they point left  and right, and they run at a shallower angle that the customary 90 degrees. All this allows more spoke crosses (usually 3 instead of 2, which is stronger) and for a straighter line where the spoke leaves the nipple so no weak point is created.

As with electric bikes these hubs are larger diameter than normal hubs and that reduced space between the hub and the rim causes problems with the number of spoke crosses in the build and the accentuated angle that occurs where the spoke leaves the nipple.
